Thanks to the help from the community, area resident El Ndoye was able to raise more than $7,000 for the organization, The Forgotten Children of Sénégal.

Ndoye, a native of Africa, originally created the organization to help raise money for food and clothing for the starving children in Sénégal.

After the first year was a big success, Ndoye decided to set standards higher and raise money to help build a school for these children.

Through the donations, Ndoye said they were able to build walls with bricks, buy mortar, windows, doors, tile, paint and corrugated metal to complete the home.

This year, Ndoye said he is dreaming even bigger, hoping to raise more than $100,000 through grants and the continued generosity of area residents, which will go towards building homes for the orphaned children.

“The gratitude I feel for you supporting The Forgotten Children of Sénégal is greater than I can express in words,” Ndoye said. “With the help of donations from supporters like you we will continue to sustain and improve the living conditions for so many children.

“Again, my deepest thanks and I hope you will continue to support this worthy cause.”
