Northwest Fire crews were called to a house fire on the northwest side Saturday afternoon. Fire crews were alerted by a neighbor who heard the sounds of smoke alarms going off.
The neighbor went to the home and discovered smoke visible inside the home and called 911.
In all, three engines, a rescue company, and several support units totaling 19 firefighters initiated an interior search for victims and found none. The fire was brought under control within eight minutes of their arrival.
The homeowner arrived back at the scene to find fire companies still working to extinguish hot spots.
A 53 year-old man who lives at the home alone will be displaced from the residence due to the fire and smoke damage. The Northwest Fire’s Community Assistance Program will assist him with relocation and needs after the fire.
Fire cause investigators from Northwest Fire were at the scene and the investigation into the cause of the fire is still underway. Damages have been estimated to be approximately $35,000.
