La Cañada Drive
The bad news is that drivers can still expect some delays and temporary road closures on La Cañada Drive. The good news is that roadwork is moving another step closer to completion (completion is expected this fall).
Pima County Department of Transportation, the Regional Transportation Authority and contractor KE&G Construction will perform the final paving on La Cañada Drive between Ina Road and Calle Concordia with rubberized asphalt starting Aug. 15.
The schedule for the next two weeks is as follows:
Paving work: Crews will begin paving with rubberized asphalt along all the turn bays throughout the project's limits. Paving work will be performed daily between 5:15 a.m. and 5 p.m.
On Monday, Aug. 15, the east side of Calle Concordia will be closed from 4 to 6 a.m. for paving.
Intersection closures at night: Between 7 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday, crews will pave the intersections of La Cañada at Hardy/Overton and at Magee.
On Thursday, the intersection of La Cañada/Magee will close starting at 7 p.m. while crews pave the intersection. Motorists will be detoured to alternate routes. That intersection will re-open to traffic Friday at 1 a.m. At that time, the intersection of La Cañada at Overton/Hardy will be closed while crews pave the intersection. It will re-open to traffic by 7 a.m.
Final paving: Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction of La Cañada from Ina to Calle Concordia while crews perform the final paving with rubberized asphalt.
Motorists should expect delays and are reminded to obey the 25 mph speed limit through the construction zone.
The schedule may change due to inclement weather.

On Monday, Aug. 15, drivers in the area of Magee Road and La Cholla Boulevard can expect traffic changes and delays due to roadwork.
Pima County Department of Transportation, the Regional Transportation Authority and contractor The Ashton Company will change the traffic control signals on Magee Road while crews construct the northern section of the road.
The signals at the intersection of La Cholla Boulevard and eastbound Magee will be replaced with a three-way stop sign. Traffic approaching the area will be required to stop and then proceed through the area with caution.
The current southbound lane closures in place on La Cholla between Magee and Foothills Mall Drive will remain in effect. Travel on westbound Magee will be reduced to two travel lanes, one in each direction.
All left-turn lanes will be restricted during this phase of construction. This traffic control will remain in place until late fall.
