Bring food to feed others, and fill your own tummy while you’re at it.
The annual free community breakfast and community food collection event that is the culmination of the monthlong Edward Jones Bag-a-Thon will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Edward Jones offices at West Lambert Lane and North La Canada Drive in Oro Valley.
The Bag-a-Thon goal this year is 75,000 pounds of food, and beneficiary Interfaith Community Services is asking the community for one last push to make that happen, as many ICS Food Bank shelves that are normally stacked to the ceiling with crates full of food are completely empty instead. ICS depends on this food drive each year to help families in need celebrate the holidays with traditional meals in addition to distributing monthly emergency food boxes.
Those who wish to help can bring a food donation to the event on Saturday or take it to their nearest Edward Jones office.
Now in its seventh year, the Bag-a-Thon has become ICS’s largest annual food drive. On Saturday, food donations will be sorted, loaded onto trucks and taken to the ICS Food Bank to be given to households in need.
