Work continues next week on Interstate 10 near Marsh Station Road

Posted

Motorists traveling on Interstate 10 east of Tucson will encounter lane restrictions throughout next week while the Arizona Department of Transportation moves closer to completing a $17.2 million improvement project near Marsh Station Road.

The following travel restrictions are scheduled for the first week of March:

Monday, March 3 through Wednesday, March 5, the left lanes of both eastbound and westbound I-10 will be closed daily from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. to allow crews to work in the highway median and haul materials away from the project site. The lane restrictions will be between mileposts 288 and 290.

Starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday and continuing through 5 p.m. Friday, March 7, the left lane of westbound I-10 will be closed to allow crews to remove temporary concrete construction barriers. During the same time period, the left lane of eastbound I-10 will be closed at the west end of the project (approximately milepost 288) to allow trucks to re-enter the interstate.

On Friday, March 7, the left lanes of both eastbound and westbound I-10 will be closed until 5 p.m. to continue work in the median.

The work is part of a project to separate eastbound and westbound I-10 by constructing new alignments in each direction with a median between.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
