Town trying to find right solution to ‘Lake Marana’

Marana has a lake for now and there is a very real possibility it may remain. To be technical about it, the area being nicknamed “Lake Marana” is a former borrow pit from the construction of I-10 at the north end of Continental Ranch that has filled with water, forming a lake of sorts. We Say: There’s always plan B

A referendum effort to stop the purchase of the $1 million Hilton El Conquistador Golf Course/country club was halted last month thanks to a serial number/resolution number debacle. More than 3,000 signatures proved it’s not just some cranky minority opposed to a sales tax hike and purchase kept out of public view through the negotiations process. The amount of signatures proved it’s a little more important to residents than the four-vote majority want to admit.
