A 22-year-old teacher's aide from Amphitheater High School was terminated on Tuesday after allegations of sexual misconduct with students was reported to the Tucson Police Department.
According to district spokeswoman Mindy Blake, the school became aware of allegations that teaching assistant Clarice Lee had engaged with inappropriate behavior with several male students. Lee is an assisted for special needs classroom.
While the student's names are not being released, early reports are that Lee allegedly snuck off with the six students on the Amphi campus, where she engaged in "sexual contact" with the 18 year olds and intercourse with the 16 year old, according to TPD.
Blake said the parents of the students who were directly involved in the situation have been contacted. The parents of all AHS students were also notified on 1/22 of the situation via a recorded voice mail message from the school’s Principal, Jon Lansa.
"The allegations, as we understand them, are terrible in their nature. How someone entrusted to care for students could possibly do such a thing is bewildering. It certainly does not at all reflect the professional dedication and care for children that district staff is expected to and does bring to the school every day," said Todd Jaeger, Associate to the Superintendent, General Counsel and spokesperson for the District.
