"For me, each painting is like a book - a beginning, a middle and an end," stated artist Atlanta Knatchhall. "Sometimes the work pours out and I complete it, almost forgetting to breathe, and some are filled with angst, taking months to complete."
Knatchhall's soft strokes and color mixed with bold subjects will be displayed during the Oro Valley Indoor Summer Fine Arts Festival, on Saturday, Aug. 10 and Sunday, Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., presented by Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance.
Set at the base of the majestic Pusch View Mountains, the free festival will take place at Hilton El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort, 10000 N. Oracle Road. The third annual event features live music, free kids' activities and exquisite artwork in the cool, air-conditioned setting of the resort.
Last year, attendees enjoyed acoustic folk, jazz and bluegrass among fine, handcrafted artisan displays in metal, jewelry, leatherwork, pottery and more.
This year, attendees can expect to find up to 50 fine artists from around the region as well as live strolling performances throughout the weekend.
Atlanta Knatchhall works collaboratively with Tricia Anderson, together displaying many years of artistic experience in painting and jewelry.
Anderson's art work has been described as bold, beautiful, colorful and dramatic, creating each piece of jewelry to be a work of art. Her art has evolved over time and having been a painter for many years, it was natural for her to step into the world of jewelry. Within each hand made piece, she utilizes her innate sense of color and composition, resulting in a visual feast.
"I have found a wealth of inspiration living in the Southwest, where so many diverse cultures mingle and colors and shapes abound," Anderson stated. "The journey is to enhance the luster, beauty and uniqueness of a stone."
