From bluegrass and country to flamenco and jazz fusion, a musical menu this summer is sure to entertain all tastes.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to enjoy the shows, at Crossroads at Silverbell Park, 7548 N. Silverbell Road. Admission to the Marana Concerts in the Park is free and open to everyone.
Marana Concerts in the Park - first Saturdays from May to October - brings a hometown feeling to outdoor music. The 7 p.m. shows will feature some of the best local performers in the region.
Years ago, Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance formed the partnership with the Town of Marana to deliver quality music and arts experiences for rural residents and visitors.
In August 2014, the 11-member Americana String Ensemble will give 22 concerts in 22 cities in China, presenting America's folk, cowboy, old-timey, bluegrass, traditional jazz, Cajun, country and western swing musical heritage at large public venues. Three-time national certified division fiddle champion Peter "Doc" Rolland (www.peterrolland.com) has written the musical arrangements and musical cohorts are Igor Glenn on slap bass (www.igorsjazzcowboys.com), Ron Privett on guitar, Ken Bucy on prairie percussion, Annie Trimble on guitar, Nancy Bucy on clarinet and piano, Giselle Lee on clawhammer banjo and fiddle, Ben Shu on fiddle, Bryan Seegers on mandolin and bluegrass banjo, and dancers Steve Conway and Chloe Liberman.
