CDO baseball standout Gabe Benavides will continue his baseball career after he graduates next spring. The Dorado hurler has verbally committed to Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.

A varsity performer since he was a freshman, Benavides has put up good numbers, posting a sub 3.00 ERA over the past three seasons and holding opposing batters to a .217 batting average. He also hit .393 last season.

He will join Grand Canyon for the 2015-16 school year.

The Dorados went 22-7 last season, losing in the first round of the state playoffs.

Grand Canyon was 30-23 last season.
