The Pusch Ridge softball team had an easy go of it on Tuesday, beating San Miguel 17-6 on Tuesday afternoon. The Lion pounded out 10 hits and took advantage of four San Miguel errors in the five-inning, run rule shortened game.
Although the Lions scored in every inning, they actually trailed 3-2 after the first inning. After that the San Miguel bats went silent. Pusch ridge broke the game open with three in the second, five in the third and four more in the fourth. They added a final insurance run in the top of the fifth.
Kailey Rohne drove in three and also scored three times. Maddi Johnson also scored three times, but did not have a hit, instead reaching base on a pair of walks and by being hit with a pitch. Emma Stenbaugh went 3-3 with two RBI’s and two runs scored. Karli Schmidt, Juliana Martinez, Karli Frithsen and Maddie Dowdle also scored twice.
Frithsen earned the win, pitching four innings. Ashley Perdue pitched one scoreless inning in relief.
The Lions improved to 8-9 in regular season games but are ranked 14th in the latest poll. They conclude the regular season with a Wednesday game against St. Gregory.
