Area soccer teams in midst of tough season

Boys Soccer

Canyon Del Oro

The Canyon Del Oro Dorados closed out their regular season on a six-game win streak, the most recent coming in a 4-0 victory over Vista Grande on Jan. 30. Their other recent wins over Mountain View, Casa Grande, Catalina, Maricopa, and Marana helped propel the Dorados to a 12-6-1 overall season record. Ranked 20th in the state in D-II play, the Dorados finish just shy of playoff contention. The top 16 teams in each division advance.

Ironwood Ridge

The Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks dropped their two final games to Catalina Foothills (4-1), and Mountain View (2-1), closing out the season with a 9-9-1 overall record. They will fall short of playoff contention, ranked 23rd in D-II.

Marana

The Marana Tigers finished the season with a 7-13 overall record, giving up their final four games to Maricopa, Flowing Wells, Canyon Del Oro, and Rio Rico.

Mountain View

The Mountain View Mountain Lions finished their season on a high note with a 2-1 win over Ironwood Ridge. The Mountain Lions narrowly miss playoff contention with an 8-5-2 record.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy

The Pusch Ridge Lions are within playoff contention, currently ranked 12th in D-III play with one regular season game remaining against Phoenix team Cortez High School. The Lions are 1-1-1 in their last three. They currently sit with an 8-3-4 record.

Girls Soccer

Canyon Del Oro

The Dorados posted four consecutive wins over Casa Grande, Maricopa, Marana, and Vista Grande to lift the team to a 13-5-2 overall season record, good enough for a #21 rank in D-II play but just shy of the playoffs.

Ironwood Ridge

The lady Nighthawks currently sit as a #4 seed in D-II play with a 14-4-2 season record and one game to play, which takes place today against Gilbert team Campo Verde. The Nighthawks are 1-1-1 in their last three, tying Corona Del Sol, defeating Mountain View, and losing to Catalina Foothills.

Marana

The Marana Tigers will fall short of playoff contention, but managed a winning season with a 14-6 record. The Tigers won their first 10 games of the season. They finished with an 8-2 win over Flowing Wells and a 3-2 loss to Canyon Del Oro.

Mountain View

The Mountain Lions finished their season 11-5-1, winning three of their last four games. The team defeated Canyon Del Oro, Vista Grande, and Flowing Wells before dropping their final game to Ironwood Ridge. The Mountain Lions will narrowly miss the playoffs.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy

The lady Lions have one regular season game remaining against Cortez High School. With an 11-3-1 record, the Lions currently sit in 12th in D-III play, good enough to enter the playoffs.

*The Catalina Foothills boys and girls soccer teams have captured an automatic playoff spot and a top-seed heading into the D-II postseason. The boys managed a 15-3-1 overall record, while the girls finished 19-1-2.
