Three area baseball teams have qualified for their respective state baseball playoffs. Canyon Del Oro and Catalina Foothills will both compete at the Division II level, while Pusch Ridge will make a play for the Division IV state title.
CDO just missed out on a first round bye, but earned the No. 10 seed and will host No. 23 Tucson High on April 3 at 11:00 a.m. The top eight seeds receive first round byes.
The Dorados come into the game riding a five-game winning streak, but their last loss was a 2-1 defeat to the Badgers on April 19.
Tucson is 12-6 and has won three of their last four games. Their lone loss in that stretch was a 1-0 defeat against No. 2 Sahuaro.
The winner will meet No. 7 Verrado High School in Agua Fria on May 6.
No. 14 Catalina Foothills will host No. 19 Cienega on May 3 as well. The 13-5 Falcons lost their final regular season game to CDO, but had won four straight before that, including a 3-2 win over Cienega.
The 12-6 Bobcats have won three of four with the lone loss being to the Falcons.
The winner will travel to No. 3 Bradshaw Mountain on May 6.
The Pusch Ridge baseball team earned the No. 2 seed in the Division IV baseball playoff and earned a first round bye. They will face the winner of the Chandler Prep/Northland Prep game on May 9 in Goodyear, AZ.
The Lions have won seven in a row and nine of their last 10 games. Both of their regular season losses have come against No. 1 Desert Christian.
Marana, Ironwood Ridge and Mountain View failed to make the playoffs and happened to be ranked Nos. 40, 41 and 42 respectively.
