Three area girls doubles team are still alive at the Division II state doubles championships, including a pair of teams from Catalina Foothills.

The Falcons’ teams of   Noelle Karp/Katie Watson and Angelica Anderson/Caroline Leidy both advanced the third round and will resume play at Phoenix’s Paseo Raquet Club on May 2.

Fifth Seeded team of Anderson and Leidy breezed to the third round winning both of their matches against teams from Douglas and Coconino by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.

They will next face Mariah Fleming and Nicole Rosales of Dysart with a berth in the Quarterfinals at stake.

Second seeded Karp and Watson were not quite as dominant, but were rarely challenged winning their matches 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-2. They will face Lake Havasu’s Allie Cooke and Katelyn Schuck.

Third seeded Kelsey Brown and Allison Knox of Ironwood Ridge were also perfect in their first two matches, winning both 6-0, 6-0 and setting up a showdown with Kofa’s Diamond Reed and Mitzy Rangel.

Marana’s Diana Garcia and Maryam Rouhani won their first match 6-1, 6-1 over a squad from South Mountain, bit lost by an identical score in the second round to Nogales’ Paulina Lopez and Emma Oropeza.

Canyon Del Oro’s doubles tea, of Daniels and Brumm also won their first round match 6-1, 6-4 but lost to the state’s top team of Caitlin Railson/Sarah Eversoman of Notre Dame Prep, 6-0, 6-2.
