Two boys doubles teams remain in the Division II State Doubles Championship and both are from Catalina Foothills.

Top seed Nate Rasmussen and Quinn Gardner had little trouble advancing to the third round. They won their first match-up 6-1, 6-2 and were a little better in the second round with a 6-0, 6-1 win over a team from Camp Verde.

Up next for the Falcon duo is Kellis’ Johnny Hall and Matthew Topkilko.

Third seeded Bogdan Racolta and John Miller were even more dominant, giving up just a single game over the first two marches. They face Desert Edge’s Marc Dominguez and

Colby Colgan on May 2.

The other local teams did not survive the weekend, but two teams did advance to the second round.

Mountain View’s Nicholas Chintis and Alex St. Peter beat Poston Butte’s Moy and Con 6-1, 6-3 but fell in straight sets to Tucson High’s entry.

Ironwood Ridge’s Ben Sutton and NickThomson won their first round match over the Yuma Kofa team 6-0, 6-2 bit fell to Deer Valley’s Andrew Nguyem and Igor Masamovic.

Marana’s team of Philipp Roederer and Pedro Acosta actually lost to Hall and Topilko in the first round 6-2, 6-2.
