Both the Catalina Foothills and Ironwood Ridge girls tennis teams had an easy go of things in the first round of the Division II team tennis tournament. Both squads won 5-0 and lost a total of nine games over the course of their two matches.

Both Noelle Karp and Angelica Anderson  won their matches 6-0, 6-0 for the Falcons, while the Nighthawks’ Kelsey Brown also won her match 6-0, 6-0.

The No. 2 Falcons will next host No. 7 Prescott on Tuesday, while Ironwood Ridge will travel to Lake Havasu. If both were to win, they would meet in the state semi-finals on May  up in the Phoenix area.

Prescott beat Rincon 5-1, while Lake Havasu beat Douglas 5-1 as well.

The Pusch Ridge girls fell 5-0 to No. 3 Buckeye Union  in the Division IV state tournament, ending the Lions’ season.
