On Saturday, Dec. 28, at 10:32 p.m., Oro Valley police responded to a report of a suspicious car on the 10000 block of North Sandwedge Place. The caller said a car had been sitting outside of her house, with two people in it, for about 45 minutes. When police arrived, they were unable to find the car matching the description given. After speaking to the caller, police continued to look for the car. Police soon found a car with two people sitting inside it. When talking to the people inside, police could smell marijuana. When searching the car, police found the small remaining end of a joint, a bag with a small amount of marijuana, and flakes of marijuana throughout the car. The passenger, who admitted all of the marijuana belonged to him, was cited and released for unlawful possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
On Thursday, Dec. 26, at about 2:41 p.m., Oro Valley police responded to the Walmart at 2150 E. Tangerine Road in response to a shoplifting that was currently taking place. When police arrived, the store’s security had the shoplifter in custody. The man, who was under the age of 21, had a bottle of gin and an Xbox thumb drive in his pockets. He was arrested for shoplifting and for a minor in possession of alcohol. He was told he would be cited for trespassing if he went to a Walmart or Sam’s Club any where in the country. He was released to the custody of his father. The total value of the items was $51.43.
On Friday, Dec. 27, at about 12:19 p.m., Marana police responded to a call about criminal damage at 9180 N. Casa Grande Highway. The caller said that another racer told him that there was oil on the track. The caller said he last checked the track on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 26. The gate to the area was undamaged. The oil stain was about five feet wide and 20 feet long.
On Tuesday, Dec. 24, at about 9:09 a.m., Marana police responded to a call about criminal damage at 7548 N. Silverbell Road. The caller told police that a storm drain on the southeast corner of the park had been tagged. The words “landof” and “anoy” were written on the drain. The three spray cans found were gold, black and pink, which matched the colors on the walls.
On Tuesday, Dec. 24, at about 2:59 p.m., Marana police responded to a call about shoplifting at the Kohl’s on 5850 W. Arizona Pavilions Drive. When the officer arrived, the caller showed him the shoplifter on tape. A male was looking at jewelry in the store when the caller noticed that male took items from the display case and walked toward the men’s department. He was later seen tearing off the price tags on two of the items taken from the display case. The man was escorted to the store office and was found with two silver necklaces. He was later cited and released for shoplifting.
On Tuesday, Dec. 24, at about 10:24 a.m., Marana police responded to a call about stolen wood at the block of 1200 Wind Runner Drive. Thirty-five sheets of plywood were stolen sometime between 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 and 6:45 a.m. on Dec. 24. The worth of the plywood was about $450.
