Mather LifeWays Institute on Aging has earned a Spirit of Innovation Award, as part of the ninth annual LTC and Senior Living LINK Conference for its “Mobile Observing Quality of Life in Dementia” tool.
Mobile Observing Quality of Life in Dementia arms long-term care staff with an easy-to-use tool delivered through an iPod Touch. Staff are able to immediately record their observations of resident’s behaviors, emotional reactions, and degree of engagement during daily activities which is proving beneficial for individualizing programs and fostering positive experiences for these residents with dementia.
“The goal of the Spirit of Innovation Award is to celebrate and foster innovation - both big and small - and help advance business productivity in long term care and senior living,” said Bailey Beeken, Managing Director of the LINK Conference.
“We are very thankful for this recognition of our research in developing a technology-based tool that enables long term care providers at all levels to more efficiently and effectively observe and document the quality of life of older adults with dementia,” said Dr. Linda Hollinger-Smith, Vice President, Mather LifeWays Institute on Aging.
