A University of Pittsburgh study looked at the effects of volunteerism on adults 50 and older and found that in supportive volunteer environments, older volunteers found purpose, satisfaction, and good health later in life while giving back to society.

For those interested in volunteering their time to a non-profit organization, finding the perfect volunteer opportunity is just a mouse click away.   Websites such as and Volunteer Southern Arizona connects area residents with a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the Tucson area.

Gestures of Joy, an all-volunteer sign language music group of approximately 20 Splendido residents, visits area hospitals, nonprofits, and nursing homes providing performances and enjoyment to all.

The public is invited to come see the group perform at Splendido, 13500 N. Rancho Vistoso Blvd., Tucson, on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. RSVP by calling 878-2612.
