Variety is the spice of life, and where dining is concerned, there’s no more savory selection than Splendido at Rancho Vistoso, an industry leading and award-winning Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) based at the foot of the Santa Catalina and Tortolita Mountains, in Tucson.  With several restaurants and lounges to choose from, and finely-appointed kitchens in Splendido’s terrace and villa homes, dining options are virtually limitless.

Whether sampling simple fare al fresco at Café del Sol for breakfast or lunch, dining with friends at Alonzo’s Tucson Grille, celebrating a milestone anniversary or other event at Marbella or in the Bottiglia Wine Room, or preparing a quiet meal at home for family, Splendido provides a cornucopia of dining experiences for its more than 300 residents.

“We strive to create an atmosphere that is friendly and relaxed, while providing residents with a wide variety of menus and top-notch service,” says the aptly-named Travis Parsley, Splendido’s Director of Dining Services.

Lifelong Tucson resident, Taylor Peate, is a server at Splendido, where he says he enjoys working with the residents whom he describes as, “fascinating people with amazing stories to tell.” Peate says he knows almost every resident by name, and he makes an effort to remember the specific needs of individual residents in order to provide personalized service for the best dining experiences. Peate enjoys the benefits of working for Splendido, a joint venture between Mather LifeWays, an Evanston, Illinois not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults, and Plaza Companies, an award-winning developer in Peoria, AZ.

The villas and terrace homes of Splendido feature electric kitchens with frost-free refrigerators, icemakers, electric ranges, self-cleaning ovens, microwaves, dishwashers and disposals. Marble countertops and stainless appliance can be a key ingredient to a well-appointed kitchen suitable for entertaining or simply enjoying a quiet meal at home amidst the magical light of the mountain, desert, and skyline views.

Splendido’s resort-style living offers a wide variety of activities and amenities for residents, including a 10,000-square-foot fitness center and spa, a movie theater, and an 18-hole putting course. If health care needs arise, there is access to on-site health care at Sonora, a comprehensive health center, which provides a range of services including short-term stays, assisted living, memory support and rehabilitation. Sonora at Splendido has been given the highest five-star rating by US News and World Report three years in a row, and parent organization, Mather LifeWays has won more awards than any other organization from the National Association of Home Builders. Residents enjoy living in an award-winning architectural setting, partaking in delicious meals and interesting cultural and social programs, while having access to the many diverse attractions of Southern Arizona.
