    You can produce enough vitamin D from sun exposure, even in Tuscon, although it may take more time or more spells in the sun. However, washing immediately afterwards reduces the amount of vitamin D available.

    Ignore the official RDAs from health authorities; they are the ones responsible for the pandemic of vitamin D deficiency. You probably need somewhere between 1000-5000 IU per day for optimal health.

    You are far better off taking a supplement than depending on the sun though! Read how to do that safely here:
