"Reptile Rambles" are back at Tohono Chul Park.

The events, introducing cold-blooded reptiles to the curious, are held each Friday at 10 a.m. through the end of June. There is a break in July, then the rambles return in August, September and October.

With warmer weather, "hungry reptiles are again on the prowl for food and mates" at the Paseo del Norte park. "Join us as we embrace the warmer weather – and introduce those whose cold blood depends on it, reptiles," a release said.

In Reptile Ramble, park presenters unveil captive reptiles, mostly snakes, inviting the brave in each crowd an opportunity to touch. The presentation teaches the essentials in understanding reptiles — how they move, how they eat and where they live. Reptile skeletons, skulls, and sheds are available for viewing and touching.

During the second part of the ramble, the group strolls over to the park's tortoise enclosure, along the way looking for lizards and learning how to tell the difference between species. Tohono Chul is home to many; ornate tree lizards, western banded geckos, regal horned lizards, gila monsters and zebra-tailed lizards among them.

"Come see who you can uncover, identify and intermingle with at this corner desert oasis," the release concluded.

The program is free with admission. Park admission is $7 for adults, $5 seniors, $3 students & active military $2 children (5-12) It is free to members and children under 5.
