The Tucson Symphony Orchestra has received a "substantial contribution "made by an anonymous donor through the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona.

"For over 30 years the Foundation has helped individuals and families build and perpetuate their charitable legacy," said Clint Mabie, president and chief executive officer of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona. "Continuing in our efforts to build the capacity of vital non-profit organizations, we are honored on behalf of our generous donors to make this gift to the Tucson Symphony Orchestra."

"It is through the generosity of donors and philanthropic organizations like the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona that the TSO is able to continue its mission of transforming lives through music," said Erwin Kratz, president of the TSO board of trustees. "We have made a lot of progress in the last year addressing the financial challenges faced by the TSO, and this gift significantly reinforces that effort. On behalf of the TSO Board and the entire TSO family of musicians, staff, patrons and donors, I would like to thank the Foundation and its donors for this generous gift."

The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona is a public organization with more than $91 million in assets. The foundation has allocated more than $100 million since its founding in 1980. For more information visit www.cfsoaz.org.

The TSO is the oldest symphony orchestra in the Southwest and the oldest continuously performing professional arts organization in Arizona. In its 82nd season, the TSO serves Tucson and southern Arizona communities with performances and education programs. Its season extends from October through April with more than 70 orchestra and 260 chamber ensemble performances each year. For more information visit www.tucsonsymphony.org.
