A first-year arts festival is being held this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25 and 26, at a new Marana park.
"Marana Crossroads Fine Art Festival" is being held at Crossroads at Silverbell Park, 7548 N. Silverbell in Marana.
Marana Crossroads Fine Art Festival is featuring gallery-quality work from artists in a multitude of media, including glass, photography, jewelry, painting, sculpture, wood, fiber, mixed-media, ceramic and drawing.
Music, food and culinary creations are added attractions.
For a small fee, children can indulge in an inflatable play land. They can also enjoy the free kids' art corner, with art and crafts, clowns, face painting and magicians. Young Rembrandts will also be on site to teach youth drawing lessons, "introducing concrete ideas and techniques that enlarge and enrich their visual vocabularies, their imaginations and their minds," a release said.
The event is produced by Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance, with help from the Town of Marana Parks and Recreation Department.
"Our programs and events in Marana are always met with tremendous support from the community," said Kate Marquez, executive director of SAACA. "We are talking about a group of people who really get behind local artists and musicians like you wouldn't believe."
