If the sound of Frank Sinatra's voice makes you long for Las Vegas, you just may want to stick around Tucson for a couple of weeks.

On Saturday, April 18, the Bet the House Casino Gala will bring Vegas to the Westward Look Resort. Ticket holders will gamble the night away to the recorded jazz music of Sinatra and other Rat Pack musicians who ruled Las Vegas in the 1950s and 1960s.

The event, which runs from 6 p.m. to midnight, benefits the Greater Oro Valley Arts Council.

"It's a very lively, mingling, upbeat social event," said Kate Marquez, the arts council's executive director.

In a low-lit, lounge-style atmosphere, attendees will test their luck with craps, roulette, blackjack, poker and Texas Hold 'em.

"The craps table is, hands down, the most loud and fun area to be," Marquez said. "They play craps until, like, midnight."

Dress is casual — "By no means black tie," Marquez said — and the dealers do their best to feed the Vegas fantasy.

"They're very loud and flamboyant," Marquez said. "They make it fun. You really feel like you’re in Vegas."

The $55 ticket price includes a buffet dinner, a raffle ticket and chips for gambling. Additional chips and alcoholic drinks also are available for purchase.

At the end of the evening, attendees can cash in their winnings for raffle tickets that they can use in drawings for prizes. The most valuable prizes require the most tickets.

Raffle prizes will include round-trip tickets to anywhere in the United States that Southwest Airlines flies and a six-month golf membership at the Hilton El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort that is valued at more than $5,000, Marquez said.

About 250 people turned out for the charity event last year, Marquez said.

Proceeds from the event will go into the arts council’s general fund. The arts council creates avenues for people to engage with the arts and for artists to interact with people in greater Oro Valley. The nonprofit organization holds more than 40 events and programs a year.
