Oro Valley puts on a hazardous waste clean-up day on Saturday, May 23, with people invited to bring household items to the Naranja Town Site, 660 W. Naranja Road from 8 a.m. until noon.

Batteries, auto batteries, paint products, items marked "flammable," "caustic," "poison," "toxic," "danger," "warning," or "caution," hobby chemicals, pesticides, household cleaners, polishes, lawn and garden products, drain openers, pool chemicals, solvents and automotive fluids are being accepted.

No medications, commercial gas cylinders, explosives, ammunition, infectious or radioactive waste products will be accepted. Medications should be disposed of properly, a release said; do not flush or pour medications down the toilet, sink or drain. Instead, dispose of them in household trash by crushing solid medications, adding some water to dissolve it and placing it into a container with a seal before placing them in the trash. This follows federal guidelines set by the White House's Office of National Drug Control Policy.

Oro Valley needs volunteers for the collection day. If you are interested, please call Scott Nelson at 229-4809.
