The Oro Valley Municipal Pool has lessons – including the world's largest swimming lesson on June 3 – an inner tube water polo league, inner tube Saturdays and a July 4 spectacular to keep people cool this summer.

The world's largest swimming lesson begins at 8 a.m. Thursday, June 3. The pool is hosting lessons simultaneously with other facilities around the country in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record.

"This event will also build awareness about the importance of teaching children to swim to prevent drowning," a release said. The website is www.worldslargestswimminglesson.org.

The schedule for group swimming lessons is:

Session 2: June 14-June 25 (registration: week of June 7)

Session 3: June 28-July 9 (registration: week of June 21)

Session 4: July 12-July 23 (registration: week of July 5)

Session 5: July 26-Aug 6 (registration: week of July 19)

Instruction levels offered are preschool and parent, preschool, beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate and advanced. The fee is $30 for residents and $35 for nonresidents. Private lessons are offered as well; call for more information.

The inner tube water polo league is held on Fridays, June 11, 18 and 25; July 2, 9 and 23; and Aug. 6 and 13. Games are played at 6, 6:30, 7 and 7:30 p.m.

Teams of five compete in water polo games, with a tournament at the end. Ages 13 and over can participate, with a $20 fee per team.

Inner tube Saturdays are each Saturday through the summer from 1 to 3 p.m. People can "come to play, come to relax. Inner tubes are provided, or you can bring your own," the release said.

The Splash N. Dash Aquathlon Series is held on Saturdays, June 12, 19 and 26; July 3, 10, 24 and 31; and Aug. 7 and 14.

The July 4 Spectacular runs from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 4.
