Ballet Tucson presents “The Nutcracker,” a holiday tradition, in four performances Dec. 23-26 at Tucson Music Hall.
From the moment the curtain rises, guests are transported to “a wondrous, fantastical world with swirling snowflakes, marching toy soldiers and giant mice,” a release said.
“Ballet Tucson’s talented professional dancers will take you on a magical journey through the enchanting ‘Land of Snow’ and the exotic ‘Kingdom of the Sweets,’ with Spanish Chocolate, Arabian Coffee, Chinese Tea, marzipan, candy canes, bon bons, and candy confections of every kind.”
The “larger-than-life production,” set in the traditional Victorian era, features “brilliant sets, dazzling costumes and spectacular dancing,” the release continued.
“Whether you are experiencing it as a family tradition or discovering the magic for the first time, the memory of this beloved classic will stay with you forever.”
Ballet Tucson’s production of “The Nutcracker” was voted Best Dance Production in Tucson Weekly’s “Best of Tucson” five years in a row.
Ballet Tucson is a professional company in its 25th anniversary season. The company entertains the Tucson community with historic classics as well as “innovative contemporary works offering something for everyone’s taste,” the release concluded.
