Four centuries of musical masterpieces captivate audiences and explore an evolution of style during the 2010-' 11 Tucson Symphony Orchestra MasterWorks Concert Series, presented by the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance.

The first installment of the fall series, "Stars of the Symphony," takes place this Friday, Nov. 5, at 8 p.m., with a pre-concert informative chat at 7 p.m. by George Hanson, Tucson Symphony Orchestra musical director and conductor.

Hanson leads musicians through hundreds of years of talented composers at St. Andrew' s Presbyterian Church, 7575 N. Paseo del Norte, during the fall and winter MasterWorks Series. Each performance features four programs from legendary composers. They are "Stars of the Symphony," "Marvelous Mozart," "Schumann Romance" and "Virtuoso Violin and Haydn."

"The lovely, predominantly wood, enclosure at St. Andrew' s provides excellent acoustics — which musicians have claimed to be the best in Tucson," said SAACA Executive Director Kate Marquez.

Seats for each performance start at $33, with discounts available on package purchases.
