When homeless women and their children need help, a certain Tucson organization throws out a figurative life preserver.
Now, that 20-year-old organization needs aid in keeping its pivotal programs afloat.
New Beginnings for Women and Children, which connects clients to decent-paying jobs, transitional housing, aftercare programs and other services, has a budget shortfall of $150,000.
The organization attributes the shortfall to a hurting economy, which has brought about a drop in donations. Emergency funds will keep it afloat for a while, but the organization is looking to strengthen its financial situation.
To this end, it has set up the New Beginnings Fund and has a goal of raising $50,000 by June 13.
To contribute to the fund, make a donation at any Chase Bank. Online contributions can be made at www.nbwcfund.org. Or write a check payable to New Beginnings with “New Beginnings Fund” written on the memo line, and mail it to 2590 N. Alvernon Way, Tucson, AZ 85712.
