The Jazz Under the Stars fall series continues at St. Philip's Plaza, running Sundays through Oct. 18 with a variety of musical treats dished up by the Tucson Jazz Society.

Kristin Korb visits from Los Angeles with her band on Sunday, Oct. 4, for an evening of straight-ahead jazz with a woman's touch. The bassist incorporates vocals ranging from smooth lyrical standards, such as "Peel Me A Grape," to her playful scat selections.

Warming up the California group are locals Christine Vivona on harp with Rob Boone on trombone and piano. Both musicians have extensive résumés, including appearances with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, Linda Ronstadt and on international cruise ships. Boone is often found in the orchestra pit accompanying national touring theatrical shows such as "Lion King," "Chicago" and "A Chorus Line." Bassist Evan Dain and drummer Doug Davis join the duo.

Oct. 11 swings to the sounds of Big Band Express, led by drummer/vocalist Tom Patrick and guest vocalist Katy Martin. The 16-piece band brings audiences back to the era of Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman. It recently backed Jerry Lewis at Desert Diamond Casino and Wayne Newton in Las Vegas. Martin regularly appears in the lounge at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort.

Fall jazz in the courtyard wraps up Oct. 18 with a special SuperJam, this year dedicated to the late Steve Emerine, long time jazz supporter. "Memories of You" is being sponsored by the Public Relations Society of America, Southern Arizona Chapter, whose members wish to honor the memory of Emerine.

The all-star jam session will feature a collection of Tucson's top jazz musicians, such as Jeff Haskell, Julie Anne, Pete Swan, Eleanor Winston, Brice Winston and many more.

Students of Tucson Jazz Institute will open all shows at 6:30 p.m.; the feature acts begin at 7 p.m.

St. Philip's Plaza is located on the southeast corner of Campbell Avenue and River Road. Tickets are $20 general public, $15 TJS members, $10 students and military and may be purchased through Bookman's, 800-595-4849, online or at the door.

For details, call 520-903-1265 or www.tucsonjazz.org. Acacia will sell food and beverages in the courtyard during all concerts.
