Oro Valley lights its Christmas tree this Friday, Dec. 3, at Oro Valley Marketplace.

Activities begin at 5:30 p.m., and include lighting, hot chocolate, activities for children, a number of performers and an appearance by Santa Claus.

The Giving Tree is being lighted at 5:30 p.m.

Guests can huddle around the fire pit and enjoy s’mores courtesy of Golder Ranch Fire District. There’ll be hot chocolate and crafts for kids, and a children’s cookie decorating booth. Members of the Ironwood Ridge High School culinary arts class are baking the cookies and hosting the activity.

Scheduled performers for the evening include Paige Percy, the Painted Sky Elementary School choir, the Wilson Elementary School choir, Chloe Noell, the BASIS Oro Valley Choir, bagpiper Elijah Woodward, the Wilson K-8 sixth-grade choir, Oro Valley Team Dance, the Ironwood Ridge High School “Glitz” choir, the Ironwood Ridge High School “Encore” choir, Miss Arizona Kathryn Bulkley, the Ironwood Ridge High School “Touch of Class” choir, and the My Town Music School.

Mayor Satish Hiremath and Police Chief Danny Sharp are scheduled to speak.
