Organizers from the Healthiest Town in America are looking for sponsors and vendors to participate in the third annual event on Saturday, March 5.

During the family friendly event, attendees can participate in a 5K fun walk/run, a bike race and kids activities. People also may also bring their dogs for the Healthy Dog area.

The event’s coordinators use the occasion to educate and inform the public on the recognition, prevention and reversal of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

The Healthiest Town in America does this by holding expos and events, community outreach, and connecting the community with reputable heath-related businesses.

Dr. Jeff Monash so strongly believes in the event’s mission to educate and inform that he is returning as a sponsor for a third year and is serving as the 2011 HTA president.

“I want to do as much as possible to promote a healthier lifestyle for Oro Valley and Tucson residents,” he noted.

The event provides Monash with the unique opportunity to interact one-on-one with people in the community and educate them about his medical specialty — bariatric surgery — and healthier eating habits.

As an added benefit, sponsoring HTA has “increased awareness of who I am and my business,” Monash said.

Sponsorships range in price and types. A tent sponsorship costs $300, which includes a tent with an event table and two chairs. A title sponsorship is $5,000. It includes exposure throughout northwest Tucson with a lead line in all advertising, printed materials, event programs, and the event banner as well as an event table. The title sponsor also will be introduced at the event and receive five minutes of stage time.

A corporate event sponsor is $1,500; these sponsorships are limited to 10 businesses. A stage sponsor is $600; it is limited to nine.

Healthiest Town in America will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the BASIS Charter School parking lot within the Steam Pump Village in Oro Valley. Organizers are expecting 2,000 people to attend the event.
