The smooth sound of Latin fusion by Los Esquineros Sospechosos is jazzing up La Encantada this Friday, Aug. 6.
The band plays from 7 to 9 p.m. in the garden courtyard at the Skyline and Campbell shopping center. It's presented by the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance.
Los Esquineros Sospechosos, meaning "the suspicious characters in the corner," carry a unique sound, described as "Latin-funk-fusion-jazz," a release said.
The band features Amilcar Guevara on the piano, accompanied by Mike Levy on bass, Aaron Szabo on drums and Onfre "Naffy" Escobar on percussion.
Concert attendees can enjoy the show in the lower-level courtyard of the mall and redeem their ticket stubs at La Encantada restaurants. Performances for these sell-out shows begin alternating Fridays at 7 p.m. Individual tickets cost $10 in advance and $11 the day of the show. Season tickets for the 11-concert series cost $88.
Other acts in the series include Jive Bombers, Heather Amelia Quartet, Jovert!, and Bill Ganz and his Western Band.
Proceeds from the Summer Concert Series benefit arts education programs and activities SAACA sponsors in local schools and at its community festivals and programs. For the summer concert series, SAACA partners with title sponsor La Encantada, a Westcor shopping center, and the Tucson Federal Credit Union.
