Bustamante named to post at Canyon Bank

Jerry Bustamante, former president and chief executive officer of the Northern Pima County Chamber of Commerce, has been named business development officer for Canyon Community Bank.

Bank president Chuck Luhtala made the announcement.

Bustamante's responsibilities at Canyon Community Bank include community outreach, new business development, developing and executing the bank's strategic marketing plan, and coordinating sales and marketing efforts for all lines of business in the bank, a release said.

He'll also assist with public relations, publicity, civic events and campaigns, it continued.

Bustamante is a longtime resident and community business advocate in Tucson who was most recently the president and CEO of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce.

He is a Tucson High School and University of Arizona graduate who served as president/CEO of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce during 2000-'01, and was president/CEO of the Northern Pima County Chamber of Commerce from 2001 to 2008.

 

 

Hughes  to offers 3 scholarships

Hughes Federal Credit Union is now accepting applications for its fifth annual college scholarship program.

Later this spring, three students will be selected to receive $500, $1,000 or $1,500 awards.

Applicants must be high school seniors entering a college or trade school in fall 2010, and be a Hughes member in good standing. Entries are reviewed for scholastic excellence, community service and an interest in advancing personal education.

"We are proud to offer our scholarship program for the fifth year," said Kellie Terhune Neely, vice president of marketing. "It's an opportunity for students to gain insight into the financial industry, and focus on continuing their educational goals."

Along with the application form available at www.hughesfcu.org, students must write a credit union-themed essay. "Students are encouraged to be creative in their use of visuals and mock presentations such as an advertisement, promotion or incentive," a release said.

To be considered, applications and essays must be submitted no later than March 15.

New dentist joins practice

Dr. Chadwyck Bradley has joined Dr. Satish Hiremath at Hiremath Family Dentistry in Oro Valley.

Dr. Bradley, originally from Youngstown, Ohio, received his bachelor's degree from Ohio University and his DMD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

He is a general practitioner who enjoys working with both adults and children.

"He will be a great asset to all of the children in Oro Valley," Hiremath said.
