Merry Maids won’t only make sure your home is tidy for that Valentine’s Day dinner, they’ll leave something special behind.

The home-cleaning business, which offers a wide array of services including trash removal, move in/out cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing, deodorizing, window cleaning, and more, is offering a dozen free roses to customers who sign a bi-weekly contract.

Merry Maids got its start in July of 1987 when Sue and Keith Sutterley decided to open their own business, one that allowed them the flexibility of family time and took advantage of Keith’s extensive experience in the customer service industry.

The two initially met in high school, and were coincidentally reunited eight years after graduating when Keith coincidentally bought a puppy Sue was selling. They have now been married for 35 years, and have four children and 10 grandchildren.

Their bond has carried over into their business, which they take very seriously.

The end result has been a franchise with a stellar reputation for quality work and attention to customers. Sometimes that means picking up on the slack of other cleaning businesses.

“When we promise we will be there, we make sure we will be there,” said Sue. “A lot of times we will get phone calls that other companies haven’t shown up, and the customer is desperate. We will be there. We are very customer-oriented, and we try to maintain high quality standards.”

Merry Maids also keeps a high standard when it comes to hiring, and will not employ anyone who has not undergone and passed a screening process. There are currently 21 employees working at the Tucson location.

The realm of work provided by Merry Maids is also flexible, said Sue, so long as the requests being made are legal. There are few cleaning-related tasks that Merry Maids cannot handle or adapt to. The company, which has become known for its community service with groups like the Boys and Girls Club and St. Luke’s Hospital, also does a small amount of office cleaning.

Merry Maids is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more information on services offered, visit http://local.merrymaids.com/arizona/tucson/4037. Additional information can be obtained by calling 745-6622. Merry Maids is located at 4755 E. 22nd Street.
