New orthopedic surgeon joins hospitals' staff

Kimberly Tucker, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon, has joined the medical staff of Oro Valley Hospital and Northwest Medical Center.

Dr. Tucker focuses on hip and knee arthritis and hip and knee replacement, including complex hip and knee replacement revision surgery, a release said.

After earning her medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, Dr. Tucker completed her residency in orthopedic surgery, also at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. She then finished her fellowship in joint reconstruction with Orthopaedic Associates in Towson, Md.

Dr. Tucker is currently active in hip and knee replacement research. In 2006, she received the Leonard F. Peltier Award for Excellence in Research from the University of Arizona College of Medicine.

Dr. Tucker focuses on establishing a relationship with each of her patients, taking time to learn about their lives and interests, and explaining the diagnosis and treatment plan.

Her medical practice is located at 1521 E. Tangerine Road, Suite 101, in the medical office building adjacent to Oro Valley Hospital. The office can be reached at 520-544-9700. Same or next day appointments may be available.

Urologist joins staffs of two Northwest hospitals

Urologist Manas Jain, M.D., has joined the medical staff of Oro Valley Hospital and Northwest Medical Center.

Dr. Jain is versed in all general urologic conditions and procedures, with particular interests including erectile dysfunction, incontinence, prostate health and prostate surgery, and robotic surgery.

Dr. Jain tries to understand his patients concerns and fears, a release said, asking each patient "What do you feel is wrong?" and "What is concerning to you?" He empowers his patients and their families to take an active role in their own care through education about the disease, any necessary tests, and the treatment plan.

After earning his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Dr. Jain completed his general surgery internship at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. He then completed his urology residency at the University of Texas and the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Dr. Jain has been published from multiple institutions and has written a textbook chapter about erectile dysfunction.  He is a member of the American Urological Association.

His medical practice is located at 1521 E. Tangerine Road, Suite 209, in Oro Valley and at 6060 N. Fountain Plaza Drive, Suite 250 in Tucson. The offices can be reached at 784-7000.

Fitzsimmons off bench for Miller at chamber

Sean Miller, the new head basketball coach at the University of Arizona, can't attend the Northern Pima County Chamber of commerce's monthly breakfast this Thursday, Sept. 24.

David Fitzsimmons, editorial cartoonist at The Arizona Daily Star, is filling Miller's shoes as guest speaker.

The breakfast runs from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the Hilton El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort. Registration opens at 6:45 a.m.

Cost is $20 for members and guests, and $30 prepaid for non-members.
