The City of Tucson was named top 10 “digital cities” in the U.S.

Tucson tied for eighth on the ranking of cities with a population of 250,000 or more.

The Center for Digital Government’s 13th annual Digital Cities Survey was open to all U.S. cities and is intended to recognize national leaders in open data and transparency efforts, as well as innovators in deploying mobile applications to citizens.

The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local governments.  The survey criteria focused on results achieved by cities - via the use of technology - in operating efficiencies, realizing strategic objective, innovation or creative solutions or approaches, effective collaboration and transparency measures.

A complete list of the winners can be viewed at www.digitalcommunities.com/survey/cities/?year=2013
