Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona is opening its first upscale retail store and donation center in Oro Valley next spring.

CB Richard Ellis has negotiated a lease for 14,000 square feet of retail space at Mercado at Cañada Hills, a 72,000-square-foot retail center developed by Whirlygig Properties on the northeast corner of La Cañada Drive and Lambert Lane in Oro Valley.

Goodwill is entering a 10-year lease. Exact financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, according to a release from CBRE.

"People from all walks of life and income levels are looking for the same thing – value," said David Blanchette, representing Goodwill Industries. "Goodwill offers its customers just that. It's much like any other discount store, with one exception – it's a non-profit organization and its stores are its primary fundraising mechanism."

Goodwill secured another site at Bear Canyon Shopping Center, which is scheduled to open in December 2010.

Mercado at Cañada Hills is adjacent to an existing Fry's-anchored shopping center. Other tenants at the property include Ace Hardware, Marco's Pizza, Jerry Bob's Restaurant, Dr. Jaws and Studio Dental.
