Interfaith Community Services received a donation from the grandchildren of Carl’s Jr., founder Carl Karcher at a Thursday event in Oro Valley.

Margaret, Carl and Jason LaVecke have made the rounds of Carl’s Jr., restaurants in Arizona and beyond, giving donations between $500 and $2,500 to 70 charities. They stopped Thursday at the 10535 N. Oracle Carl’s Jr.

Interfaith Community Services assists people with transportation, mobile meals and more in greater Tucson.

The LeVeckes are Arizona residents whose grandfather “faced incredible adversity during more than 50 years of restaurant business,” in the words of Jason LeVecke. “Through thick and thin, success and failure, he taught us that we have to continue to challenge ourselves to do more, to do better, to do right by others, to never give up.”

The Carl’s Jr. Making it Happen Tour started Dec. 8 in Phoenix and concluded Thursday in Guadalupe. Checks were presented at 59 restaurants.
