Joel Harrington has been named chef de cuisine at The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain.
Harrington is launching a new restaurant at the hotel's prime venue, Core Kitchen & Wine Bar, due to open with the resort in late fall, a release said.
Plans are to serve "a new style of contemporary American cuisine," fusing "coastal and desert fringe influences with a Southwestern flair," the release said. Signature dishes emphasize grilled meats and seafood with Sonoran Desert flavors.
The open kitchen is visible to diners in a 250-seat facility that has views of the Tortolita Mountains and Wild Burro Canyon.
"This was an awesome opportunity to showcase my culinary creativity for guests from all around the world to enjoy," said Harrington.
Harrington was most recently chef de cuisine of Fearing's at The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas, ranked #1 in U.S. hotel dining by Zagat, 2009.
"Chef Harrington's culinary talent coupled with our legendary service will present a modern American menu that is innovative and bold," said Michael R. McMahon, general manager of the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain. "Joel's innovation as a chef has created a menu that highlights influences from coast-to-coast, then back to the desert and makes it work."
Ignite Lounge & Bar, the Turquesa Latin Grill and the already-open Cayton's at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club are scheduled to complete the resort's offerings.
