Homeless teenagers. Imagine your formative high school years being spent on the street. Are these lives being thrown away before they’ve even had a chance to chart their own course?
Tierra Antigua Realty has rallied to the cause of the Arizona Young Adult Program and AVIVA Children’s Services. These outstanding organizations work hard to support at-risk children who are attempting to make the transition to adulthood.
In December 2011, Tierra Antigua Realty became aware that these children receive only $150 per year in clothing allowance. Owners Kim and Matt Clifton raised the alarm and their REALTORS® have responded.
After working for months to collect over 5,000 clothing and household items, Tierra Antigua Realty is proudly hosting a shopping event on Friday, July 27, 2012. It will be an all-day event, allowing foster children, those in group homes, and youth living on their own, to shop for badly needed clothing and enjoy lunch.
Tierra Antigua Realty agents and business associates have generously donated these items for the new school year. This effort will assist 300+ children who have experienced abuse, neglect or poverty, and are in the care of Child Protective Services.
Arizona Youth Adult Program (AYAP) is a unit of the Arizona Department of Economic Security that was specifically designed to prepare disadvantaged youth for transition into adulthood. AYAP provides life skills training classes, youth support groups, career planning, incentives for completing high school, funding for post-secondary education, and much more for this valuable generation of teens.
