Eurofresh out of bankruptcy, looks ahead

 

Eurofresh Inc., one of Southern Arizona's largest employers and the leading year-round producer and marketer of greenhouse tomatoes in the United States, has exited Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

 

Eurofresh Inc., doing business as Eurofresh Farms, and its subsidiary Eurofresh Produce Ltd., emerged from bankruptcy less than seven months after they originally reached a recapitalization agreement with their investors, including Eurofresh founder and current chairman Johan van den Berg.

 

The company originally announced its financial reorganization on April 21.

 

Dwight Ferguson, chief executive officer of Eurofresh, said the company is emerging from bankruptcy "stronger than ever, and will continue searching for future growth opportunities," a release said.

 

"The future for Eurofresh has never been brighter," he said. "We look forward to providing the highest quality produce and services available to our customers for many years to come."

 

Eurofresh grows certified pesticide-free products in one of the world's largest greenhouse complexes. The company's two greenhouses cover more than 318 acres in Willcox and Snowflake.

 

 

 

 

 

UniSource to pay 29-cent dividend

 

UniSource Energy Corp., plans to pay a fourth-quarter dividend of 29 cents per share, its board of directors has determined.

 

Dividends would be paid Tuesday, Dec. 29, to common shareholders of record as of Dec. 17, a release said.

 

UniSource Energy is a Tucson -based company with consolidated assets of approximately $3.5 billion. Its primary subsidiaries include Tucson Electric Power Company, which serves more than 400,000 customers in southern Arizona, and UniSource Energy Services, provider of natural gas and electric service for about 236,000 customers in northern and southern Arizona.
