There is no denying that Dr. Del Kyger is a University of Arizona men's basketball fan as posters, newspaper articles and jersey's surround the walls of his orthodontist office. Although that is something he is passionate about, his patients know him best for his quality orthodontic work, his friendly personality and his professional attitude.
"My kids like to go to him because he is so friendly and my son especially has the U of A sport in common with him," said Randy Hunt, a parent of six kids, four of which have seen Dr. Kyger for the last 6 years. "As a parent we like how they have good pricing, are friendly and are very accommodating with the kids' school schedules."
Dr. Kyger, an orthodontic specialist, owns his own orthodontist office called Del Kyger Orthodontics that has been in business for the last 11 years. Originally his office was located across from Mountain View High School on West Linda Vista Boulevard. He moved to a new building a year and a half ago, which is based at the foot of the Pusch Ridge Mountain and right on North Oracle Road.
Del Kyger Orthodontics offers traditional braces for all ages as well as clear braces, more commonly known as Invisalign, for teens and adults.
"I've gotten people as old as their 70s or 80s and it's a lot of fun because you'll have folks who've lived their whole lives with a smile they didn't like," said Dr. Kyger. "Invisalign gives them an option to really change their lives."
Invisalign is often used more for adults but a couple years ago a new product line came out called Invisalign Teen, which now allows for Dr. Kyger's office to treat more high school kids. Someone who goes the route of using Invisalign will be given four sets of trays and then wear each set for two weeks. The time that a patient needs to wear Invisalign varies, but it's usually between six months to 1 year.
"It's a good feeling to be able to give people beautiful smiles," said Dr. Kyger. "One thing that I think I can guarantee for folks is that they will get more personalized care here than they will experience in most doctors offices or other health care environments. It's a relatively small practice and we really pride ourselves on kind of that personal touch."
That personal touch has definitely had its affect on his patients as his office was voted one of the Best of the Northwest. Dr. Kyger is pleased with how they've served their patients and gives a lot of credit to his receptionist Carolina Vasquez who he says patients’ love because of her sweet personality.
Heading into a new year, Dr. Kyger hopes to continue to serve his patients and currently has no plan of expanding his office into other parts of Tucson.
