The Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation will host the second annual Chasing Rainbows Gala on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Fox Tucson Theatre (17 West Congress Street). The gala, a fundraiser for The Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation, is named after the classic film, Chasing Rainbows (starring Jack Benny), the first film that shown in this vintage movie palace back on opening night in 1930.

Doors open at 6pm with the traditional walk down the red carpet. Guests will be sipping on 1930s inspired cocktails and enjoying themed hors d’oeuvres. Guests are encouraged to dress in period attire or formal wear and can enjoy the original film Chasing Rainbows as it plays in the bar areas. The featured entertainment is a live performance by celebrated, Grammy Award winner Steve Winwood.

For more than four decades, Winwood the celebrated composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist has created an impressive catalog of memorable music. From his early work with the band Traffic to rock’s first super group, Blind Faith with Eric Clapton, and extending through such landmark solo albums as the Grammy Award-winning “Back In The High Life,” Winwood has merged rock, folk, R & B and calypso to create his own unmistakable sound. Two lucky raffle winners at the event will also get the pleasure of meeting Winwood backstage after the show.

According to the Foundation’s Executive Director, Craig Sumberg, “Our annual Chasing Rainbows Gala is an opportunity for supporters from across Southern Arizona to celebrate everything that is so unique about the Fox, the ‘crown jewel’ of downtown.” He specifically touted “the glamour of the VIP receptions, hearing great music in a great venue, and the sense of being at the entertainment epicenter of Southern Arizona.” Foundation chairman Terri Saint Pierre adds, “This event helps us raise essential funds we need to keep the Fox Theatre operating and bringing great entertainment to Tucson.”

Tickets for the Gala--$75 Regular Admission, $150 VIP Admission--are on sale at The Fox Tucson Theatre box office. VIP ticket holders will enjoy priority seating, additional hors d’ oeuvres, drinks and post-show dessert. A special “Fan of the Fox Award” will be presented to the Honorable Bob Walkup & Mrs. Beth Walkup, and the event’s Honorary Co-Chairs are the Honorable Jonathan Rothschild & Mrs. Karen Spiegel. Jim Click Automotive Team is the Title Sponsor for this year’s event.
