Catherine Reynolds – Week 11
Great news! Given the week of rest, it appears my knee is on its way back to normal…without looming surgery! But, with my forced “workout vacation,” I have found a newfound respect for the benefits of exercise.
The only workouts I was able to complete this week were upper body strength circuits. Trust me, they were difficult, but did not provide the same demands of me that running and cardio do. Without the consistency of cardio, I found myself extremely tired…going to bed at 7:30 when the kids allowed, nodding off in the afternoon, and hitting snooze a couple extra times. I had trouble concentrating on things and found myself daydreaming a lot, mainly about food.
I wanted bad food, and lots of it! When I was working out regularly, my body did not crave the bad foods as much. I found myself wanting the more healthy options. Unfortunately I will say that I gave into the unhealthy cravings most of the time (how can you not when your Mom has a chocolate party!?). I’m not proud of the effects it had on my body, or the scale, but have learned that I cannot beat myself up for falling behind. Now is the time to pick up and move on.
So starting now, I am renewing my efforts and dedication to this Challenge. I am going all in again. Let’s just pray that my knee is along for the ride!
Things I learned this week: 1) We will all have setbacks, but they should be just that. They are not the end of the road. 2) Listen to your body, but like everything else, only in moderation.
