Artist Diana Madaras has taken her work to a new – and smaller – scale.

The Tucson painter has opened a show of her original art in miniature sizes – most of the 22 paintings are 8-by-10-inch and up to 12-by-16-inch paintings, plus frames.

The miniature show, open through June 15 at Madaras' 3001 E. Skyline gallery, represents a "creative effort … to generate new business in a challenging economic environment," she said in a release.

"This show is geared towards the art lover who doesn't have a huge budget or for the collector who has run out of wall space," said Madaras. "I got the idea after several small paintings I created for holiday cards sold via an e-mail to collectors before I could even hang them in the gallery."

Prices start at $900. The works depict desert scenes, florals, animals and architecture, the release said.
