Marana is a community that successfully incorporates tradition with progress. Cotton fields are planted near high-tech businesses. Cowboys eat lunch with business professionals. Planning for Friday night rodeos can feel a lot like sitting in a Monday morning board meeting.
While we will always appreciate our heritage, we are constantly pressing ahead.
Marana’s 21st century reputation for being a regional center of commerce is hard-earned. This diverse community includes small, locally owned businesses alongside large, national corporations. The Marana Chamber of Commerce, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012, has more than 500 members. We vow to do everything we can as a local government to create a business-friendly environment where people can live and work.
The Town is proud to have the largest Ritz-Carlton development in the Southwest United States. That property also is home to the PGA TOUR World Golf Championships Accenture Match Play Championship, a 64-man, single-elimination tournament that has been won by some of the game’s best players. The world comes to Marana every February and the positive exposure our community receives during tournament week is priceless.
Marana is more than a great place to visit. It is a clean, safe and healthy community filled with parks and open spaces. Many of our roads were built with room set aside for bicycle and running paths. We have special events on many weekends, including concerts, movies in the park and other family-friendly activities. We are fortunate to be home to the Marana Unified School District, which is nationally recognized for its excellence in education.
The Town is pleased to have beneficial relationships with other municipalities throughout the region. We work with neighboring cities and towns to make Southern Arizona an inviting place to live, work and do business.
Our management and staff have helped make Marana a place that more than 35,000 people are happy to call home. The Town Council and I appreciate where the Town has been and where it is headed.
Please consider spending some time here to see why Marana is so special.

History Lesson: During World War II
During World War II, the impact of the rising importance of the military came quickly to Marana. The Marana airfield (1942-1945) was the largest pilot-training center in the world during WWII, training some 10,000 flyers, and Titan missile sites were later located in the area as part of a complex of ballistic missile installations built around Tucson.
