2015 Major League Soccer Preseason teams and schedules announced

FC Tucson and Major League Soccer have announced that five teams will take part in the 2015 Desert Friendlies and that an updated group of six teams will compete in the 2015 FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup.

Shred-A-Thon

Identity theft has quickly become one of the most costly crimes happening today. In response to this problem, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has partnered with Shred-It to host several “Shred-A-Thons.” The goal of these events is to raise the public’s awareness and educate them about identity theft. By shredding old documents, you can decrease the chances of thieves stealing and assuming your identity.

Rockets to light up Avra Valley night sky

On Saturday October 11, dozens of rockets will light up the night sky west of Tucson at the Fall 2014 Night Launch hosted by the Southern Arizona Rocketry Association (SARA), Tucson's own rocket club. Best of all, it's free!

Tucson meet yourself needs volunteers

Tucson Meet Yourself, which is celebrating 41 years, wants you to join its family of volunteers.  This year’s festival will be downtown Oct. 10-12 and will offer plenty of opportunities for volunteers to have a behind-the-scenes experience at the Southwest’s premiere cultural festival.

Chinese Culture Festival

The Confucius Institute at the University of Arizona (CIUA) is excited to present the third Annual Chinese Culture Festival September 20-28, 2014 in Tucson, AZ. This year is the tenth anniversary of the establishment of Confucius Institutes around the world. We will join other Confucius Institutes to hold a Confucius Institute Day as the opening of the 2014 CIUA Chinese Culture Festival. Special lectures on Chinese concepts of time and on Confucius as an historical figure will be presented by faculty from the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Arizona. The theme of this year’s Festival is “Health Promotion and Wellness.” In addition to our annual language competition, culture exhibition, concert, and Chinese martial arts demonstration, we will present a special Chinese food therapy dinner lecture, a professional workshop on traditional Chinese medicine, and a lecture on acupuncture and health by faculty from leading universities of Chinese medicine in China. Tucsonans are guaranteed a rich cultural experience; Last year, over 3000 Arizonans participated in the CIUA Chinese Culture Festival.
